This is a tomahawk that was forged from a piece of round 4140 bar stock. This hawk was hand forged to shape and then ground. The blade has been hardened and tempered to hold a good cutting edge. The poll was also hardened and tempered so it will hold up to hammering. The finish is a brown patina.
The blade is also accented with decorative file work. The handle is Premium straight grained hickory and has a firebrand for improved gripping. It is stained with dark walnut stain and sealed with Tru-oil.
The blade cover is made from 7-8oz Veg tanned leather and has been stamped and riveted with copper rivets. It also has a stabilized elk antler shed for a button.*
